The Notebook

by Brooke Floyd
(Mcdonough, Ga )

The Notebook, written by Nicholas Sparks, portrays an entanglement of love revolving around the beautiful Allie Hamilton. Raised by money and a dysfunctional environment of love between her parents, Allie ventures out on the town only to fall in the arms of her true love Noah.
Noah, providing the perfect contrast to Allie and her up bringing sweeps Allie off the ground into a whirlwind of love. This short lived summer romance is filled with only a bittersweet passion that leaves both Allie and Noah heart broken and eager for more.
As Allie's parents intercept the two lovers and move off to surround her with what they think is a suitable environment for a rich young girl as herself, Allie slowly fades into another love one which mirrors Allie's lifestyle and glows with her parents approval. This love, however, is filled with money and happiness and ultimately ends with their engagement.
Nicholas Sparks cleverly opens his book to a worldwide view that not only captures the attention of the young lovers of our world, but also the older, calmer lovers of our world. This story being read out of Allie's diary as we discover to help her to recover her memory and hopefully feel that old love she once did allows the suspension to rise and keep the readers and audience guessing as to whom the other lover is that she chose.
Ryan Gosling in character as Noah, Allie's poor southern romance fills his part with a breathtaking performance showing himself as the ideal man to love in the eyes of the women viewers. With the mixture of Rachel McAdam playing the part of Allie the couple perform as a dynamic duo between Rachel's charismatic traits and playful emotions and Ryan's fierce passion they become unstoppable to the world. As much controversy as this movie has stirred up, it has truly filled our hearts with a wanting for a love so complicated as this.
