Extraordinary Measures will hit your emotional nerve. How far would you go for your child? This film takes you into the life of John Crowley and his personal quest for answers. John and his wife Aileen's (Keri Russell) two of their three children have a rare medical condition called Pompe disease, a genetic anomaly that kills before a child's tenth birthday. John decides to make a miracle instead of waiting for one. John (Brendan Fraser:The Mummy Series, Journey to the Center of the Earth) tracks down Dr Robert Stonehill, a researcher who has a theory on an enzyme treatment.

Stonehill played by Hollywood great Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones series, Firewall, What lies Beneath) is a recluse researcher who would much rather "research" than develop a working cure. But when John challenges him to actually develop a cure, this mismatched pair team up to do just that. With little money John promises Stonehill that they will be able to start an organization to start this project. John and Aileen put on benefits, fund raisers and start raising the money needed to movie forward. John soon realizes this is no easy feat, competing with leading medical research companies, fighting the entire medical establishment to prove they are on to something. All the while Dr Stonehill isn't going out of his way to "make" any friends and at time making things hard for John.

John must make tough decisions: Move forward with or with out Stonehill, sell the organization they have built, stop his passionate work to save his children so that he can spend more time with them before it is too late. These decision all come at crucial points and grab you, they make you think: What would I do as a parent for my child, or for a loved one? With impossible odds John must face his worst night mere: to save his kids before it's too late. Along the way you meet other families facing the same fears. This captivating drama will leave you wanting to do something, one person can make a difference.

Extraordinary Measures is inspired by the book "The Cure" by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Geeta Anand. If you were lookinh for that edge of your seat thriller of over the top action we are all used to seeing from these two actors this is not it, but this is a film worth watching. By the way, this film was filmed in my "back yard" so to speak all over the Portland-Beaverton area so maybe I'm just a little bit partial to the film. Enjoy.
