DUPLICITY: deceitfulness in speech or conduct; speaking or acting in two different ways concerning the same matter with intent to deceive; double-dealing. I thought I would start by giving you the text book definition. By all rights this movie is well scripted, right out of the meaning of the word.

Duplicity stars Clive Owen (Inside man, The International) Julia Roberts (Pretty Women, My best friend's Wedding) Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man, Sideways) and Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins, The Exorcism of Emily Rose star in this slick corporate espionage thriller. Ex-CIA agent Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts) and former MI6 member Ray Koval (Clive Owen) have a long, long history together of cat and mouse.

But now, instead of cat and mouse between governments they have entered the private sector and now play their respective parts gathering intelligence for greedy CEO's. Played by Tom Wilkinson and Paul Giamatti Bothe CEO's are Eager and willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top. The rivalry only grows as the launching of a new and exciting project is about to be unveiled.

It's very evident that director Tony Gilroy has a prize winning formula in this film just like in his previous work in Michael Clayton and the Jason Bourne series. It was refreshing to see his work with a comedic flare in it rather than a strictly action and suspenseful plot. I personally think with the added wit and charm this edgy caper it makes for a great two hours spent. Ray and Claire, Owen and Roberts display the same chemistry they did in Closer and that defiantly keeps you wanting more.

As the movie progresses, it takes you on a journey from location to location, then jumping from present to past and back again. Normally a film like this (in the same vain as Memento) could be very hard to follow if it is not done right; as you watch it I think you will enjoy it as much as I did...Just remember, who's really getting duped here?
