Who doesn't like to learn more about cool movie trivia? I know I do here are just a few cool movie trivia facts. I am working on more to post but in the mean time, I hope these tide you over.




  • The Blues Brothers once held the record for crashing the most police cars in a movie at approximately 30. The record was eventually broken by Blues Brothers 2000.

  • Near the beginning of the movie Back To The Future there's a scene where they show all of the clocks at Doc's house. If you look closely there is one clock with a little man hanging from the minute hand.

  • When the Mother-Ship passes over the Devil's Tower near the end of Spielberg's movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, R2-D2 can be seen hanging from the bottom of the ship.

  • In the movie E.T. there is a scene where the young boy lures the extraterrestrial with some Reese's pieces. Originally Spielberg was going to use M+M's, but he could not get the rights. Reese's pieces were the replacement.

  • The Godfather was the first movie in over twenty years in which Marlon Brando was required to audition.

  • The mechanical shark used in the movie Jaws was nicknamed Bruce, named after Spielberg's lawyer.

  • When the T-Rex devours the traffic light in San Diego within the movie "The Lost Word: Jurassic Park", there is a sign close by that reads "No Dinosaurs".

  • After reading the script for Men in Black, Will Smith did not want any part of the movie. It was wife Jada that persuaded him to take the part.

  • Midnight Cowboy was the first non-pornographic movie to receive a X rating.

Special Avatar facts

Too Much Money
James Cameron originally planned to have the film completed for release in 1999. At the time, the special effects he wanted increased the budget to $400 million. No studio would fund the film, and it was shelved for almost 10 years.

CGI Rules
The movie is 40 percent live action and 60 percent photo-realistic CGI. Most of the motion capture technology was used for the CGI scenes.

Casting Jake Sully
Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal were some of the actors considered for the role of Jake Sully, but James Cameron decided to cast the then unknown Sam Worthington in the lead.

Na'vi 101
The Na'vi language was created entirely from scratch by linguist Paul R. Frommer. James Cameron hired him to construct a language that the actors could pronounce, but did not resemble any single human language. Frommer created about 1,000 words

Show Me the Money
"Avatar" is the highest-grossing film of all time, bringing in $700 million domestically. James Cameron's previous film "Titanic" was the first film to gross $500 and $600 million domestically

Imagine the Possibilities
James Cameron wrote a screenplay for "Spider-Man" but was turned down by the studios, with his version being deemed "too violent." Sam Raimi's version got the green light instead.
