  • Frank Capra's (the director of "It's a Wonderfil Life") grand son (Frank Capra III) was the assistant director of "christmas Vacation".

  • In the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" James Stewart was nervous about the phone scene kiss because it was his first screen kiss since his return to Hollywood after the war. The scene was filmed in one unrehersed shot and it worked so well that part of it was cut because it was too passionate to pass the censors.

  • Ralphie Parker the character from The Christmas Story played by Peter Billingsley. Peter Billingsley also played the elf Ming Ming an the movie Elf.

  • in 2006: Miracle on 34th Streetwas Ranked #9 on the American Film Institute's 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time.

  • in "Christmas Vacation" the song "Here Comes Santa Claus" in the scene when the police storm into the Griswold's house is sung by Gene Autry, Randy Quaid (cousin Eddie) is the third cousin of Gene Autry

  • When asked James Stewart said his favorite character was George Bailey from a "It's a Wonderful Life". This role was originally marked for Cary Grant, after Frank Capra inherited the project, he rewrote it to suit Stewart.

  • The outside of Gimbels in the movie Elf is a digitally altered view of the 34th St. Macy's, a reference to Miracle on 34th Street (1947). Gimbels was Macy's main competition but it is now closed.
